This image looks quite different than the actual image to my eye. You can't see all the detail. It looks smushed. At the same time I do get a better feel for the impact of the entire image. In the original I always immediately get engaged by all its intricacies. I’ve never yet felt like I’ve had my fill of them and am ready to pull back and contemplate it from the perspective of the whole.
That's too funny! I met Billy Mavreas last week at a drawing exhibition at Keep Six Contemporary. Him and Michael Comteau the other guy showing were doing a collective drawing thing at some big tables in the gallery. There were some other artists there and it was really a great time hanging with them and drawing. Paula and Jacob and his friend Spencer joined in. Billy was great to meet. Just a great guy. His work was a lot of fun to see.
